PART Three CHALLENGE SESSION: Avoiding the pitfalls of virtual communication.

Connecting virtually is challenging but it isn’t impossible. Break down your growth into small challenges.

  • Make sure your team feels appreciated.
  • Take their temp: are they doing ok?
  • Be gracious!

Allow this challenge to improve your communication skills and bring you and your team closer. Check out the ideas below:

Allow your team to take meetings off if they are fatigued.
Challenge your team to create four different types of goals.
Remind your team to offer grace to each other. Reward people for asking clarifying questions.
Give your team encouraging note cards they can send to each other.
Create a traveling trophy for a vital behavior you are encouraging.
Create an anonymous or private way for employees to ask pressing questions.
Create "rules of engagement" for the new (and temporary) remote environment.
Help your team set up virtual backgrounds on zoom and provide them fun backgrounds to use.

Creative leadership is not a waste of time. It will increase effectiveness and productivity, I promise!
