Inclusive Interviewing: How to attract, interview and hire the best humans from all walks of life.

About Inclusive Interviewing:

Diversity and inclusion is an essential partnership in interviewing. TED Talk speaker Verna Meyers, is quoted as saying “Diversity is being invited to the party and inclusion is being asked to dance.” It’s not enough to get diverse people to the interviewing table. Real inclusive interviewing is about knowing where to find the brightest, asking the right questions to determine the fit and successfully bringing the best people into your organization.

Interviewing is an art—a moment to say the right thing, see important clues and hopefully find the perfect candidate for that position. The relationship built in those first moments during the interview process are hopefully the start of a positive experience in the organization. In this talk, .Liz helps you create healthy principles for expectations and behavior to attract and recruit the best. While you may be naturally gifted at seeking out the right information, today’s market calls for an educated and inclusive approach.

In this session Liz will teach you:

  • How to create a recruiting strategy to naturally attract diverse groups.
  • The statements and terms to avoid and empowering language to attract the best candidates.
  • Methods to sort through resumes while minimizing personal bias.
  • How to build an interview team and create expectations of inclusion with “value fit” rather than “culture fit.”
  • How to “de-bias” the feedback process and gather information from interviewers consistent with DEI goals.
  • A set of unbiased interview questions of diverse candidates and how to critically identify and evaluate the conversation during the information.

Learning sessions are interactive and filled with examples to encourage active learning and engagement with the material.
