Five ways to create results in 14 days!

Momentum is a a coveted thing these days. Think about it: you are inundated with decidedly non-inspirational inspirations every day. Your over-packed schedule full of things that aren’t really your idea and don’t feed your passion. The difficulty we all have moving, which is probably what would get the juices going. And the constant stream of information that doesn’t seem to be getting any more positive as the days go by. While you may feel unintentional, overwhelmed or even hopeless at times, the truth is you have the power to create momentum at will!

Here are five ways to create a surge into your best life.

Clean out your space.

We live in a thing-dom. Every day I receive a steady stream of envelopes and papers and cartons and things. Our thing-dom is also virtually cluttered with files and e-mails and piles of unread messages. It’s no wonder we get backed up quickly. You just did a spring clean up and a few months later the clutter threatens to choke life out of your passion and productivity.

This sort of surge should be a regular part of your life cycle. Grab a few garbage bags and hours and for 14 days, create space by releasing what doesn’t serve you. It’s surprising how much energy is caught in the unneeded.

Drive to completion.

The only thing worse than unfettered clutter is unfinished business. It’s an artifact, a frozen picture of your struggle and only leads to more unfinished business. Not only does it take more space on your counter, your garage or your desk but your mind is also locked in to the never-ending story and will frequently remind you to get it done until you do. A big barrier to momentum.

Take some moments to meditate with your favorite pen and notebook. Don’t push away the constant reminders to finish-finish-finish what you started. Write it down until you can’t think of anything else. Begin with the low hanging fruit and check off the simple tasks. Vow to complete at least one thing a week. After you complete one or two, you’ll feel the energy you have been missing.

Jumpstart your success.

Sometimes you just need to see a change to know you are on the right track. Once you see the truth of your actions in transformation, it becomes easier to keep going. Stop thinking of change as the beginning of forever and enjoy the stronger mind, body and soul. See your changed environment. Celebrate your empowerment.

Institute a “life-changing” activity for a few weeks. Work out every morning or even twice a day. Get up an hour early each day to write your book or work on a project. In a few days, you’ll feel a difference. When your jumpstart is over, you will feel more connected to the progress rather than the barriers. Ride the wave to completion.

Create a restriction.

In our constant flurry of actions and reactions, it’s easy to slip into un-mindfulness. Feeling sad? Go shopping. Fighting a deadline? Order a pizza. Worried about the future? Grab a glass of wine. Over time, hundreds of thousands of dollars, calories and minutes are lost. Even worse are the bad habits the sadness, stress and worry leave behind. Temporary restrictions wake your brain. You grab for the wine and when you can’t drown your anxiety, you realize you need to change something. You feel the drive to shop and when you can’t, you “feel the feelings” and realize it’s time for a change.

Remember, surges work because they aren’t permanent. Choose your restriction instinctively. You know if you have been going out to eat too much or mindlessly snacking after midnight. Choose an end date and go on a financial diet, buying only what is needed and nothing more. Not only will you stop the insanity but you just might find it.

Reach for a number.

There is magic in numbers. Fifty clients. Five thousand dollars. Fifteen miles. In order to proceed with a new beginning, your mind needs to understand this is the real deal, not another hair brained scheme to change, soon to be discarded at the first problem. You probably know what number it would take for you to believe “you can do this.” Acknowledge that number and get ready for a surge.

How many dollars do you need to save before you believe you are capable of investing? How many clients do you need to sign up before you take your business seriously? How many miles do you need to run before it’s official—you are a runner? Choose a number and accomplish it. Then, take a break and learn from the process. Then, start the cycle again.
